Keeping your WordPress websites up to date

September 4, 2017

It is really important to keep your WordPress websites up to date. But when you’re managing tens or hundreds of WordPress websites this might get really tricky. Of course there are a lot of handy tools like ManageWP and InfiteWP to keep your website up to date, but this can get quite expensive and also it’s another dependency to keep track of. You want to focus on creating websites, not at maintaining them.

So this was something we wanted to solve in a better way. And we did. Every website you create with Hyperhost is automatically kept up to date as follows:

  • Every night our system creates an incremental backup (and also stores it at an external location)
  • After that, it will try to update WordPress core, plugins and themes.
  • If the website still works correctly, it leaves it like this
  • If things went wrong, it restores the previously created backup and you will get a message about it.

This way you will never have to worry keeping your websites up to date and you will save the costs of external tools.

P.S. If you don’t want website(s) to be updated automatically, you can turn off auto-updates via our control panel.
